Charles Lollar’s Maryland Vision – and Candidacy?

Tomorrow evening in Hagerstown in the hospitality suite at the Maryland Republican Spring Convention at the Clarion Hotel, Charles Lollar will showcase his own “New Day in Maryland Vision.”

Lollar is a Maryland community leader who also happens to be a businessman, the chief of the Maryland GOP Anti-Tax Commission, and the GOP chair of Charles County.

In a related development, a grassroots movement here has just surfaced to “draft” Lollar to run for governor.

Lollar tells us, however, he has not yet made a decision on such an undertaking, but that if he does decide to become a candidate for governor, he would —

"sign [the pledge] AND declare NO NEW Taxes."

Whatever course of action this former Marine (if there are “former” Marines) and businessman decides to take in the 2010 election, Lollar  represents (to use Mark Levin’s phrase) the kind of “new generation of conservative activists, larger in number, shrewder, and more articulate than before” — which we need.

Maryland Republicans should welcome such new talent drawn neither from the “Beltway GOP” nor the Annapolis Political Class but from the “Mainstream.”
