Former House member, now executive vice president of a major think tank, Fred Grandy warns today of the consequences of an unbelievable Shariah-based decision in a Pennsylvania court, tells of a deplorable Harvard-hosted conference on Saturday and Sunday about dismantling Israel, and points to a possible and terribly misguided prisoner exchange with Egypt.

Andy McCarthy gives us (NRO) an in-depth take (click on title) on The Sharia Court of Pennsylvania — the Transcript —
“I have made a transcript of the Pennsylvania case in which state judge Mark Martin, a Muslim convert and U.S. Army reservist who served in Iraq, relied on a sharia law defense (as well as some evidentiary contortions) to dismiss an open-and-shut harassment case against a Muslim man who assaulted an atheist activist at a Halloween parade. (See my earlier post.)”
UPDATE MARCH 1! McCarthy gives us additional analysis in his Releasing the Blind Sheikh? (NRO).
Meanwhile the leaders of the Republican Party of Virginia — which has the governorship and both chambers of the General Assembly – – seem fearful (to put it charitably) about making American Laws for Americans Courts legislation a serious priority in the Old Dominion.
A Deplorable Conference Hosted by Harvard
“This morning [February 19] I received an e-mail alert from CAMERA that my alma mater, Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government is hosting a two-day conference which essentially begins with the proposition that Israel has no right to exist. This isn’t surprising. After all, the Kennedy School is home to my old professor Steve Walt. No one there batted a lash when he co-published his updated version of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion with University of Chicago’s John Mearshimer.
Not only did Walt suffer no recrimination from his colleagues at Harvard when he first emerged a professional Jew basher. He suffered no recrimination when he used the controversy surrounding his book into a means of transforming himself into a celebrity Israel basher.”
And Worse? A Dangerous Exchange with Islamist Egypt?
Andy McCarthy asks this afternoon —
“The widely read Arabic newspaper al-Arabiya reported yesterday that the Obama administration has offered a prisoner-swap in exchange for the release of the Americans — an exchange that would have the U.S. releasing the ‘Blind Sheikh’, Omar Abdel Rahman, in addition to 49 other Egyptian inmates held in American prisons. I was the lead prosecutor on Abdel Rahman’s terrorism trial in 1995, when he was convicted of masterminding a terrorist war against the United States that included the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and a plot to bomb New York City landmarks. The al-Arabiya story has not made it to the paper’s English language site, but word of it first appeared late last night at Jihad Watch, and a translation of the story is now posted on the ‘Translating Jihad‘ site.”
Next Tuesday March 6, Virginia voters in the (open) GOP presidential primary may only choose governor Mitt Romney or Dr. Ron Paul. (Write-in votes are not allowed.) When considering how to vote, conservatives in both Virginia and Maryland (their presidential primary is April 3) might wish to ask the Romney campaign where governor Romney stands today (click on foregoing link) on Jihad at home and abroad, and how his approach on this grave danger meshes with or stands opposed to that of Dr. Paul?
